April 15th – Spring Flowers, Bring Pollinators

As the weather gets warmer and the spring flowers begin to bloom, we will also start to see the return of pollinators. Participants will get to know more about butterflies, bees, bats, and birds. We will also get a chance to learn about some of the surprising pollinators that call Capron Park Zoo home. This program will focus on science experiments, active games, STEAM lessons, and craft projects that highlight the importance of pollinators

April 16th –  Digging into dirt

Dirt is an important building block of life. Children in the group will look at soil composition, decomposers, and plants. Participants will also learn about the various animals that make their home in the dirt and what their role in the ecosystem is. Program participants will get their hands dirty as they perform science experiments, explore the zoo, take part in active games, and create craft projects that celebrate plants and soil.

April 17th – Paint the Zoo Green

Spring is a great time of beauty as the green leaves start to bud on the trees and bushes and the vibrant flowers begin to bloom. This program will use nature as inspiration for creating works of art. While there will be a focus on art and craft projects, participants will also explore the zoo, participate in STEAM lessons, and get the wiggles out with active games. Also, please be aware that this program is for all levels of artistic talent. Participants do not need to be expert artists.

April 18th – Keeper Kapers

This is a return of one of our classic programs. Students will participate in activities that teach them how zoo’s operate as they learn the techniques that the zoo keepers use to care for the animals. Students will explore the zoo, create animal enrichment, help prepare animal diets, and meet some of our animal ambassadors. Participants will also take part in STEAM lessons, active games, and will create craft projects that teach them what it’s like to be a zookeeper.

April 19th – Mission Earth Day

With Earth Day right around the corner, participants will learn about some of the endangered animals who call Capron Park Zoo home. The group will also study some of the efforts being made to help protect these amazing creatures and their habitats. Students will participate in STEAM lessons, active games, and art and craft activities that celebrate conservation and will learn what they can do to help save the planet.
