We take great pride in the fact that after all these years, children still want to participate in our programs year after year. We strive to keep each session small for a more engaging learning experience, and work hard to create a safe and enjoyable environment for your child. for 4 and 5 year old Weekly from July 5 through August 20 Zoofari is the first step for the little animal lovers in your family. This program will provide 4 and 5 year olds with a fun, hands-on camp that uses the zoo to teach basic nature concepts. This program is run by people with ECE experience and is sure to provide your child with a new adventure everyday! Designed with 6 and 7 year olds in mind, Zoo Venture encourages children to explore the world by discovering when some of our Capron Park Zoo animals call home while playing games and participating in hands-on activities. The opportunity to help zoo caretakers clean animal exhibit make this an extra extra special ed-venture! ZOO EXPLORERS For 8 and 9 year olds
Zoo Explorers is the next step in the Summer Zoocademy experience. This exciting program is perfect for first time and returning participants alike. Children will discover their place in the world, how human actions impact our animal friends and even how to care for the wild animals in their own backyard. Together with a more in-depth behind-the-scenes exploration, this program will challenge your child while teaching them that learning is fun! ZOO QUEST for 10 and 11 year olds
Zoo Quest continues to build upon the knowledge gained in previous programs while introducing new, challenging topics. Children begin to focus on what it takes o care for exotic animals win a zoo setting while learning about the animals' wild habits. By becoming more actively involved in the daily keeper routine and animal handling, as well as looking more closely at conservation concepts, participants will get a taste of the challenges zoo face in saving endangered species. for 12 to 15 year olds Session 2: August 9-13 AND August 16-20* * This is a TWO-WEEK program! This final step in the Capron Park Zoo Summer Zoocademy experience is a chance for young teens to experience ALL aspects of zoo operations, from exhibit designs to animal acquisition. During this two-week program, children will be a part of exhibit cleaning, diet and enrichment preparation and even animal escape drills. Junior Caretakers will find out what it takes to join the teen volunteer program. PLEASE NOTE: Participants in this program MUST provide proof of a recent, negative TB test! Capron Park Zoo is pleased to offer surround care for children registered in our Summer Zoocademy programs. Before care starts at 8 AM, After care begins at the conclusion of the regular program day and includes a snack. All children MUST be picked up by 5:30 PM. Before Care: $6/day After Care: $8/day
